The Veterans DD-214 Project was founded by SGT Brad Schlerf, a U.S. Army Veteran who built his civilian career in data recovery and IT support. After watching too many Veterans get locked out of their own VA healthcare because of digital barriers — forgotten passwords, outdated computers, confusing login systems — he decided to do something about it.

"Every Veteran I help log in is one more who can finally see their doctor, refill prescriptions, or message their care team. The barrier isn't medical — it's technical. We fix the technical."

Why We Exist

More than 9 million U.S. military Veterans rely on the VA healthcare system. Over 5 million are listed as service-connected disabled. Every one of them has earned the care the VA provides — but increasingly, that care lives behind a screen.

VA.gov, ID.me, Login.gov, My HealtheVet, telehealth platforms — they're all digital-first. Veterans who can't log in can't schedule appointments, can't message their doctors, can't access their own medical records. For many, especially older Veterans, this is a wall.

Our mission is to tear that wall down. For free. For any Veteran with a DD-214.

How We Work

Remote Tech Support

A trained / volunteer technician connects securely to the Veteran's computer (with permission) and walks them through whatever's broken — VA logins, browser issues, software glitches.

Refurbished Computers

Donated laptops and desktops are wiped, tested, preloaded with VA-friendly software, and delivered free to Veterans who need them.

VA Login Help

ID.me and Login.gov verification can stop Veterans cold. We walk them through it, step by step, until they're in.
